Product Type

Thin liquid primer based on bitumen emulsion, specially developed for priming and bonding on mineral substrates as well as preparation for bituminous coatings and roof coverings.

Application Area

The solvent-free primer is ideally suited for preparing substrates such as concrete, masonry or plaster. It is used as a bonding agent for cold and hot-applied bituminous coatings and waterproofing compounds. The product is also suitable for indoor use and offers excellent protection against dust formation as well as effective pore sealing.

Furthermore, this primer can be applied on slightly damp substrates, making it particularly suitable for applications in demanding environments. Its strong penetration effect significantly improves the adhesion of subsequent layers and ensures deep anchoring. These properties make it ideal for structures that are permanently exposed to moisture, such as basement walls or foundations. It is also suitable for use on roof surfaces to provide reliable adhesion for bituminous roof coverings.

Properties

The bitumen primer emulsion is characterized by its solvent-free and environmentally friendly composition, which is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Its low-odor formulation facilitates application and ensures pleasant processing. The emulsion is specifically designed to ensure excellent adhesion on mineral and bituminous substrates. Even on slightly damp or porous substrates, it penetrates well and ensures a reliable bond that optimally supports subsequent layers.

A major advantage of the bitumen primer emulsion is its ready-to-use consistency, which enables simple and fast application. It can be applied evenly without requiring additional mixing or dilution. Through its pore-sealing properties, it reduces the absorbency of the substrate, thereby improving the adhesion and longevity of subsequent coatings. Additionally, it has dust-binding properties, which creates a clean and stable surface and thus provides an ideal basis for further waterproofing or coating measures.

After drying, the emulsion forms a uniform, bonding layer that significantly increases the durability and resistance of subsequent waterproofing and coatings. Its high resistance to weather influences makes it a reliable choice for a variety of construction projects. Thanks to its easy processing and fast drying, it is ideally suited for both smaller renovation work and extensive construction projects.

Substrate

The substrate must be free of oils, fats and loose components to ensure optimal adhesion. Before processing, unevenness, cracks or depressions should be leveled with suitable material. Especially with highly absorbent or porous substrates, it is important to clean them thoroughly to enable uniform absorption of the primer.

It is recommended to check the substrate for residual moisture, as the primer also adheres well to slightly damp surfaces. Smooth or highly compacted surfaces, as frequently occur with concrete or screed, can be prepared by mechanical roughening to additionally improve adhesion.

Before application, the primer should be mixed well so that all components are evenly distributed. For heavily contaminated substrates, pretreatment with a suitable cleaning agent may be necessary. These measures contribute to creating a durable and stable basis for subsequent coatings.

Processing

The bitumen primer emulsion is delivered ready to use and can be applied to the substrate by brushing or spraying. Before application, the product should be mixed thoroughly to ensure a uniform consistency. Processing takes place at a minimum temperature of +5 °C to ensure reliable adhesion and optimal results. During curing, care must be taken to protect the freshly applied layer from rain, moisture and frost to ensure undisturbed drying.

For large-area applications, the use of spray equipment is recommended, which enables uniform and efficient distribution of the primer. Work equipment can be easily cleaned with water after application as long as the product is still wet. Dried residues can be removed with commercially available solvents.

The drying time of the fast-drying emulsion is significantly shorter than with conventional primers and enables timely further processing. The exact drying time depends on ambient conditions such as temperature, humidity and the nature of the substrate. Good ventilation can additionally accelerate the drying process. It is particularly important that the primer is completely dry before further coatings are applied to ensure durable and reliable adhesion.
