Product Type

Solvent-based, cold-applied, black protective coating based on bitumen.

Application Area

The bitumen roof coating offers comprehensive protection for concrete surfaces, walls as well as iron and metal. It meets the requirements of DIN 18 195, Part 4, Edition 1983, and is excellently suited for waterproofing against soil moisture. This coating not only protects concrete, masonry and metals from water penetration, but also prevents damage and corrosion. It is also perfect for repairing porous roofing felt and significantly extends its durability.

Additionally, the bitumen roof coating offers excellent protection against aggressive wastewater and numerous chemical substances such as alkalis, organic acids and salts. For better adhesion on concrete, masonry or plaster, a suitable primer should be used to ensure deep anchoring and perfect adhesion.

Properties

The sandroplast bitumen roof varnish is a high-quality, ready-to-use protective coating. Its drying time varies depending on weather and substrate conditions. Thanks to its excellent adhesion on various substrates, the coating ensures a reliable and permanent connection, which guarantees a robust and resistant coating.

The bitumen roof coating can be applied using different application methods, enabling flexible and easy application. The low-odor property of the bitumen roof coating facilitates processing, especially in poorly ventilated areas, and provides a more pleasant working environment.

The bitumen roof varnish is resistant to diluted alkalis, mineral acids, salts and acids. It is therefore suitable not only for industrial applications, but also for use in private and commercial areas, such as on roofs, cellars and foundations. This property ensures long-term protection of the treated surfaces. The coating is free from harmful substances such as phenol and PCB, making it safe to use for both the user and the environment.

Substrate

The substrate must be dry, clean, load-bearing and grease-free, and must not have any loose components or defective concrete and plaster areas. Cracks and holes must be repaired with suitable material.

A finely textured substrate would be advantageous for the subsequent coating. For optimal adhesion on concrete, masonry and plaster, we recommend using the sandroplast primer. This primer ensures deep anchoring and thus guarantees outstanding adhesion on the mentioned substrates. The primer should be completely dry before applying the coating.

Processing

The bitumen roof coating can be applied by brushing, spraying or rolling. For new surfaces, the sandroplast bitumen primer should first be applied.

The optimal processing temperature is between -5 °C and +35 °C. The sandroplast bitumen roof coating is ready to use.

The required solid content according to DIN 18 195, Edition 1983, Part 4, Section 7, Table, Line 3 (average layer thickness of 1 mm) must be applied in at least three work steps. Depending on the condition of the substrate, the processing temperature and the application method used, more than three work steps are usually required to achieve the prescribed minimum amount. Approximately 0.3 to 0.5 liters per square meter should be applied per work step. Freshly applied coating can be damaged or washed off in heavy rain.

IMPORTANT: For outdoor use only! The processor is obliged to check the suitability and application possibilities for the intended purpose.
